Notes: George served as a  Private in Company D, 36th Regiment (Broyles'), Georgia Infantry, CSA in the Civil War. He and his family were living on Braswell Mountain in Paulding County, GA at that time. After the war he came back and stayed there until around 1880 when he went back to Walhalla SC., to work because there were no jobs around home. He worked at a sawmill. He had an accident at the mill where he had both arms cut off. He died a few days later.

He married (1) Charlotte Tippey (August 28, 1848) in Hall County, GA. She was born 1831 in GA, and died before December 1859.

He married (2) Margaret "Martha" J. Smith (1837 – 1913) on December 29, 1859 in Cass County, GA. She was born 1837 in GA or SC, and died August 8, 1913 in Paulding County, GA.
